Researchers and PhDs develop a wide range of valuable skills—but translating academic experience into language that industry recruiters and hiring managers immediately understand can be challenging. This hands-on workshop helps participants identify their transferable skills and present them effectively in an industry-ready CV.
What participants will do
Working in small groups, participants will analyse examples of academic experience, identify the underlying transferable skills, and practise reframing them in language relevant to industry roles. They will apply these techniques to their own CVs and receive ideas for concrete improvements they can make after the workshop.
What to expect
Participants can expect a collaborative, practical session with a strong focus on peer exchange and immediate application. They will leave with actionable edits and a clearer understanding of how to communicate their research experience to employers outside academia. No prior preparation is required, although participants are welcome to bring their CV.
