Berlin Alumni Meetup: Where Exchange Creates New Connections

On April 22, 2026, alumni from AI Grid and Software Campus Alumni e.V. came together in Berlin for a joint meetup.

The evening provided space for exchange among people with diverse professional backgrounds, united by shared experiences and a common interest in IT, AI, research, and practice.

After a brief welcome by Alina Zaslavska, AI Grid, and Jonas Traub, Software Campus Alumni e.V.Vivek Chavan, an AI Grid alumnus, took over as moderator. With a personal icebreaker, he quickly got the group talking and created an open, relaxed atmosphere that shaped the rest of the evening. The successful combination of short expert talks and intentionally designed networking formats defined the event. The speed networking session at the beginning helped many participants connect quickly and easily—a dynamic that continued throughout the evening.

In terms of content, three talks offered engaging insights:

  • Aditya Mohan spoke about the path of reinforcement learning from theory to real-world applications.
  • Mansi Sharma showed why understanding human intentions is crucial for user-centered AI systems and where the challenges lie.
  • Andi Zimmerer presented SemBench, an approach for evaluating semantic query systems.

During the breaks and after the talks, there was plenty of space for conversations about current projects, new ideas, and possible collaborations, but also about personal paths and new perspectives. It is precisely this mix that made the evening special: familiar in exchange and at the same time open to new impulses. Thanks to the open moderation, participants quickly got into conversation with one another and formed new connections. Moments like these are what make a community come alive. The evening once again showed how valuable it is to create spaces for exchange—uncomplicated, personal, and on equal footing. Many went home with new contacts, fresh ideas, and the clear feeling: this should not have been the last meeting.
