Catherine Pelachaud received her doctorate in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, USA, in 1991. She is currently Director of Research at the Centre National de Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) at the ISIR of Sorbonne University, Paris, France. With her research team, she is developing the interactive virtual agent platform Greta, which can display emotional and communicative behaviors. Her research interests include socially interactive agents, non-verbal communication (face, gaze, gesture and touch) and social interaction. Dr. Pelachaud is co-editor of the "Handbook on Socially Interactive Agents" (ACM).
